Kira and I decided to head down to the kitchen to try out DIY face masks and body scrubs that we have never made before and see how it goes. The great thing about DIY face masks and body scrubs is that for the ingredients needed to make them you probably already have in your kitchen. We decided to make a turmeric brightening face mask, vanilla latte body scurb, and a simple moisturizing Himalayan salt body scrub.
Kira was bold enough to try out the Turmeric face mask, and if you have ever seen tumeric powder you would understand why i said "bold" because that stuff is bright orange. To make this face mask you need:
- 1 tsb of Turmeric powder
- 2 tsb of Honey
- 1 tsb of freshly squeezed lemon
after you have all the ingredients together in a bowl you mix them all together until it's a smooth consistency. After mixing the ingredients it looked really weird but Kira still gave it a go and put it all over her face avoiding the eye areas. She left it on for ten minutes and washed it off. After trying this face mask out we came to the conclusion that were not so sure about the brightening part but we are for sure about it leaving a yellow tint on your face, haha thankfully kira managed to get the yellow tint off before the next day. Maybe it really does brighten up your face after a couple uses but we would just recommend buying a brightening face mask made by a good company, since you wont have the hassle of getting a yellow tint off of your face.
The vanilla latte body scrub on the other hand was totally worth it and we would really recommend it to anyone who loves coffee as much as kira and i do. it made your skin so soft and smooth while also smelling amazing! The ingredients you need for this body scrub is:
- Coffee beans grounded up
- brown sugar
- coconut oil
- Vanilla extract
- Cinnamon flavor
we didnt go by any excact measurments we kinda just winged it.
Now if you are looking for a super easy body scrub to make this is the one for you! it only takes two ingrediants. Hemilayan salt and coconut oil. We use coconut oil because we find it leaving your skin super mosturized and smooth but you can always use olive oil instead of cocunut.
